ACT is a therapy made up of mindfulness and acceptance strategies along with commitment and behaviour change to increase psychological flexibility and live according to one’s values.
What differentiates ACT from many other methods is that it focuses on creating the life you want by doing what is important to you rather than targeting distress directly. Although immediate distress is not the target, reduction in distress is a common byproduct of the process.
I use ACT as one of my primary methods as it acts as a guiding process that integrates well with other methods and covers a broad range of experiences.
My training in ACT is from the “ACT FOR BEGINNERS” course by Russ Harris
